MASTER & SLAVE SYSTEMS Today's choice of tuning interface and programming tools falls into a hand full of systems, all of which have their features, different from each other. One thing all tuning systems have is the capability to program VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda petrol and diesel models, which are the most popular brands which customers ask for power upgrades. There are two types of programming interface: MASTER and SLAVE when buying a tuning system for the first time, it's important that you know the difference. Since you will be uploading a MOD (modified) program into each vehicle you upgrade, someone has to create that MOD file, and here lies the difference. A SLAVE system can only install files from it's MASTER system, that's to say, if you buy a slave system, you will be tied to the person who sold you that system for all of the MOD files you will ever need. For light users and inexperienced tuners, a SLAVE system is best, as there will never be any need to learn how to manipulate and modify files, just plug and play.		MASTER SYSTEM If you intend to write your own MOD files, or if you want the freedom to buy MOD files on the open market and from whoever you like, then a MASTER system is what you need. A Master system will read the information from the ECU and save it as a BIN file, which you can then open with a file editor and make changes to the various MAPS contained within. A SLAVE system will both read and write to the ECU and will save the information in an encrypted format, which can only be opened by it's MASTER system. With a MASTER system, you can add slave systems and supply MOD files to each SLAVE and have a network of dealers each buying files from you
